Penstemon palmeri, or Palmer’s Penstemon, is a perennial notable for its showy, rounded flowers, and for being one of the few scented penstemons. Flowers are blue or lavender to violet, rarely pink. Grows in roadsides, washes, canyons, pinyon-juniper woodlands, ponderosa pine forests at elevations from 1000-7000 ft. It is very drought tolerant and prefers full sun, and is pollinated by hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. Grows up to 4 ft. tall. Plant in full sun in well-draining soils.
