Crotalaria pumila, or Low Rattlebox, is an annual wildflower that grows up to 2 ft tall and is found in sandy or gravelly soil on flats and along washes at 4,000-6,000 ft. This little plant has leaves with 3 leaflets and pea-like flowers that are bright yellow with tinges of orange and red that bloom Jubne-October. The flowers are followed by balloon-like seed pods that make a loud rattle sound when the seeds inside shake, giving the plant its name.
