Lycium exsertum, or Arizona Desert-Thorn, is a drought tolerant shrub that is found along desert arroyos and sandy flats below 4000 ft elevation. This woody shrub can grow to be 6 ft tall and 6 ft wide. It has sparse thorns, small oval leaves, and it produces pendular dusty-purple flowers when it blooms opportunistically all year, but especially January-March. The small flowers are followed by orange berries that are abundant food for birds and other wildlife. Our desert lyciums are relatives of the Goji Berry! Plant in full sun. Transplants well, and enjoys well-draining soils. No shipping.
