Xanthocephalum gymnospermoides, or San Pedro Matchweed, is an annual herbaceous wildflower that grows up to 1.5 meters tall and has clusters of bright orangish yellow flowers that bloom August-October. This glorious resinous plant is found along arroyos, alluvial fans, and on roadsides 1,000-5,500 ft where it creates streaks of golden accross the landscape after a good monsoon season. It is especially iconic in the grasslands of southeastern Arizona. Plant in partial shade to full sun in well draining soils.
