Erythrina flabelliformis, or Coralbean, can be classified as either a shrub or a tree and can grow up to 15 ft tall. It has large, showy clusters of bright red, tubular flowers that bloom in spring and early summer and are pollinated primarily by hummingbirds. This plant grows best on dry, rocky slopes at elevations between 3000-5500 ft. Its bright red seeds are beautiful, but toxic! Plant in partial to full sun, wet to dry conditions.
