Monarda fistulosa var. menthifolia, or Wild Bergamot, is a perennial, aromatic mint with multiple whorled flower heads stacked along an elongated spike that grows up to 2 ft tall. The flower heads hold many small pinkish purple flowers that are pollinated by native bees when in bloom between June-September. This plant is found in woodland, riparian, and mixed conifer montane habitats between 5000-8000 ft. Plant in partial shade to full sun in moist but well-draining soils.
