Sweet Four O'Clock, or Mirabilis longiflora, is a large perennial forb often found in rocky canyons, and in riparian areas between 2,500 and 9,000 ft elevation. This lovely plant is characterized by its broad leaves and its very long-throated flowers with greenish-purple tubes, white petals, and 6 showy, hot pink stamens that extend well beyond the flower when in bloom August-September. These marvelous flowers are pollinated by moths! This plant can grow to be 5 ft tall by 5 ft at its biggest, and prefers part shade and medium water. If below 3,000 ft elevation, provide additional shade and water.
