Yucca elata, or SoaptreeYucca, is a drought tolerant, native succulent found on sandy mesas, in washes and grasslands at 1500-6000 ft. The basal rosette of hairy, long, lanceolate leaves that can grow into a trunk can be up to 6 ft tall and 3 ft wide, and the flowering stalk can reach up to 15 ft tall. Once the plant reaches maturity, the spike of yellowish-white flowers blooms annually from May-July. It attracts moths and native bees. Plant in full sun to partial shade in well draining soils.
