Agave palmeri, or Palmer’s Agave, is a drought tolerant, native succulent that is found in semi-desert grassland and woodland habitats at 3000-6000 ft. The hearty base long and narrow, sword-like leaves can grow up to 4 ft before it sends up a flowering stalk at 15-20 years old that averages 15 ft in height. It blooms June-August and is an important food source for migrating nectar-feeding bats. Plant in full sun and well-draining soil.
